Late 1989, early 1990, my first trip.
Even today it remains the most fascinating, most fantastic, the best, the hardest. India is a concentrate of the planet. There are people of all colors, all sizes, all religions, speaking scores of different languages, it crosses all climates, you travel from the jungle to the highest peaks through the vast desert. Some great wealth alongside millions of poor. An uncontrolled population has made it the most populous country in the world, in a not so great, causing promiscuity at all times.
If you want to make a trip to discover the world and you are not afraid to have a big shock, go to India. A few days, not only in palaces, go outside and wander the streets.
